A DRUNK man who kicked the wing mirror from a tourist’s parked car has been fined.

Louie Graham, 19, was seen kicking the wing mirror off a Ford Focus parked at Main Street in St Bees on May 25.

The incident was captured on the dashcam of a passing vehicle, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said the vehicle had been parked outside a guest house in St Bees.

A statement from the owner of the vehicle, which was read to the court, said: “This incident has made me feel disheartened that people have no respect for people’s property.

“This person should be punished.

“I had to drive back to Preston at a disadvantage.”

Graham admitted the offence during police interview. He said he’d had ‘quite a lot of alcohol’ that evening.

The defendant, of Woodhouse Road, Whitehaven, pleaded guilty to criminal damage under £5,000.

Mike Woolaghan, defending, said: “He made full and frank admissions.

“His position is much more stable. He is in full time employment. Things are starting to look up.”

Graham was fined £92. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £37 victim surcharge. He must also pay £90 in compensation for the broken wing mirror.
