A VILLAGE swimming pool has been temporarily closed, as management say 'essential maintenance' is required at the site.

St Bees School Swim Academy announced yesterday evening, December 4, that the pool would close until mid February, saying that closure is mainly due to 'the extreme weather' the county faced over the weekend making the pool 'uncomfortable' to swim in.

The organisation said they were 'extremely sorry' for the inconvenience caused by the sudden closure of the pool, with many parents taking to the comments, some saying that they had lessons booked for yesterday evening.

In a statement on social media, St Bees School Swim Academy said: "We'd like to inform you that the St Bees School Swimming Pool will be temporarily closed whilst we restructure the team, and to conduct essential maintenance work.

"The closure will be in place from Monday, December 4 until mid-February.

"This necessary step is taken to enhance your swimming experience and ensure the pool is in top-notch condition for everyone to enjoy.

"We understand this may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologise for any disruption.
