CUMBERLAND Council have begun their focused revitalisation programme with cleaning activity across Whitehaven.

During the past week, the plans have lead to the repainting of bollards and sign columns, pruning overgrown Buddleia plants (near the old Barclays location), eradicating graffiti, employing pressure washers to clear weed-choked channel drains, sprucing up planters, replacing damaged bins, and thoroughly cleaning the street furniture.

The plans have also included removing the remnants of old flyposting and  the clearing of weeds from the railings.

The teams that are involved from the council also conducted a thorough cleaning of the war memorial in Castle Park.

The initiative will not only improve the overall cleanliness but the council also hopes it will enhance the visual appeal of Whitehaven's town centre, benefiting both residents and visitors alike.
