A DRUNK woman who began shouting abuse at police as they carried out an arrest has been fined.

Police were dealing with an incident on Lowther Street in Whitehaven on the afternoon of September 21, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said a man was under arrest and during the course of this Charlene Graham, 40, told the officer to ‘leave him alone’.

She said there were ‘nice cops and she wasn’t one of them’. She was sat on a bench, drinking cans of alcohol. She was ‘verbally abusive’ and was shouting ‘he’s done nowt wrong’.

Graham was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

Ms Fee said the defendant was last before the court in March 2022 for drugs possession.

Graham, who was not legally represented, had nothing to say about the offence.

The defendant, of Douglas Road, Workington, was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £16 victim surcharge.
