Sorry if all this cute is too much sweetness, but it has to be done - it's September!

This must be one of the weirdest months of the calendar give that every day seems to be a day to celebrate something odd.

I discovered this while having a look for something topical to talk about this week. What I found leaves me thinking that some of these days must just be the result of a fevered mind!

September 8 offers something for everyone. It is International Star Trek Day - live long and prosper. It is International Sudoku Day - who made that up?

It is also International Teddy Bear Day which is why we have so many teddy bears on this page.

There is no denying that the teddy bear photos are cute.My favourite is the one of the Frizington Nursery children in their teddy bear suits - which won them a prize in the Whitehaven carnival in 2007. That was 16 years ago. I wonder if the now young adult teddy bears will be glad or just embarrassed to see their photo on this page.

The same goes for Bella Wilson and Quinn Wilson at a Methodist Church Teddy Bears' Picnic in 2016.

We are not finished with the days of September yet, however.

September 13 is Roald Dahl Story Day. It is also Eczema Day and Red Panda Day.

September 22 is World Hobbit Day .

Roald Dahl has had a look in over the year and the photo of the three boys obviously enjoying the BFG at the Gaiety Theatre is proof of that.

For all the nonsense - and some of it certainly seems like nonsense - September offers a few more thoughtful days.

From September 2 to 8 was Zero Waste Day. Neighbours in Allerdale have had to contend with an ongoing strike by bin men wanting the same pay as Copeland and Carlisle.

It means a steep drop in recycling so, with the return to work of the Allerdale bin men, there may be an appetite to observe Zero Waste Day.

We've got Sign Language Day on September 23, hence the photo of partially deaf student Louise Powell 19 from Whitehaven in the sign language class at Lakes College, Louise is making the sign for hello.

Perhaps the most significant day this month and this year is September 21- the United Nations International Day of Peace.

With the war in Ukraine and those still affected by past wars, it is hard to imagine there will ever be true peace in the world but we could give it a try.
