Millom School students and staff are today celebrating GCSE results, which represent five years of hard work for the students.

There were some exceptional individual performances. Top performing students include Aidan Irwin, Jessie Autie, Owen High, Charlotte Pollard, and Olivia Swarbrick. These five students achieved a staggering 25 Grade 9s and 8s between them.

Matt Savidge, Headteacher, said: “Congratulations to all of our students on their results today. I am so proud of our students and the commitment and effort they have shown, particularly given the challenges of the Covid pandemic.

"I am delighted for them that they have been rewarded with such good results. Thank you to all the staff and governors for their commitment and to the parents, carers, and family members for their support for our young people.

"I look forward to seeing many of our students return to continue their studies with us at Millom School Sixth Form in September.”

Donna Burgess, director of Learning and Standards for Key Stage 4 said: “The results are a true reflection of how determined and committed the students have been to their studies during their time at Millom School.

"I would like to congratulate Lewis Henderson, Owen High, Gene Ross, Lucy Wearing, Aidan Irwin, Oberon Simpson, Joe Penellum, Jessie Autie, Sam Spragg, Brandon Hawkins, Jayden Woodburn, Haidee Trohear, Alex Rigg, and Jay Date.

"These students have done extremely well by exceeding their school target grades. I am delighted for all the students that their efforts have paid off and I wish them well in the future as they progress into their chosen destinations.”

Aidan, the top-performing student, said: “I couldn’t have asked for better with my results. I’m really happy with how I’ve performed.

"A big thank you to the school for helping me along the way. With these results, I hope to pursue a career in medicine.”

Elsa Mason, chair of governors, added: “This is a great set of results for our students, complementing their many other achievements both within the school community and the wider community.

"I hope others will be inspired by the achievements of these students and continue to take advantage of the opportunities available at the school.

"On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to congratulate all students and wish them every success in the future.”
