CAMRA, West Cumbria Campaign for Real Ale, has praised Whitehaven Wetherspoons for its affordable ale options.

The group were impressed by the 'excellent quality of real ales in the Bransty Arch'.

It said: "It is indeed good news that the most reasonably priced real ale in the town is being well kept and this is undoubtedly down to good management at this busy Wetherspoons outlet."

The local 'Spoons' also has a history of hosting ale, beer or cider festivals.

Wetherspoons best selling real ale, Green King Abbot, was recently awarded silver in the Champion Beer of Britain competition and won Gold in the Premium Bitter section at the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival.

Plans were submitted earlier this year for a expansion at the Bransty Arch which included an outdoor area behind the pub on the slope of Wellington Row.
