A major road closure affecting west Cumbria is continuing as planned.

The A595 near Moresby will continue to be closed for a number of consecutive weekends due to millions of pounds worth of improvement work taking place.

Between the roundabout at Distington and the Pelican garage at Whitehaven the road will be closed for a number of weekends to come.

The closures come into place on Friday evenings at 8 pm and continue through until Monday mornings at 5 am.

With the first phase of the improvement works now complete work is beginning on the second phase of the project.

The A5086 through Frizington, Cleator and Cleator Moor is being used as the formal diversion route as it is suitable for all traffic.
