Members of the public are invited to engage with the project team behind the embankment repair scheme at Moresby Hall.

National Highways has developed an improvements scheme to rebuild the embankment and renew the drainage on the A595.

Members of the team will be at Parton Village Hall for the next three Friday mornings to answer questions and listen to any concerns people may have.

They will be present from 10am to 12pm on Friday, December 2, Friday,  December 9 and Friday, December 16.

Those who attend will be able to learn more about the work at Moresby Hall which is due to be carried out in two phases.

The first phase of the work will begin in late 2022 will mostly take place off the road, which will minimise the impact for road users.

During this phase National Highways will be building the embankment, installing new drainage and improving biodiversity in the area.

The second phase of construction will require a full road closure. Beneath the road and embankment there is a large gas pipeline which needs to be moved. There will be a focus on additional drainage improvements and completing the embankment work.

This phase of work cannot be carried out while the road is open for the safety of our workers and people using the road.

Weekend closures are expected to be in place over 10 consecutive weekends, from 10pm Friday until 3am Monday, starting in May 2023.

Howgate roundabout

A595 Howgate roundabout was constructed as part of the A595 Parton to Lillyhall improvement that was completed in 2009. As part of the work on the A595 at Moresby, there will be a series of upgrades to Howgate roundabout to improve safety and reduce congestion.

During the second phase of the work we will:

•            install new road signs

•            improve lane markings

•            construct a 200-metre merge lane on the southbound exit.
