SCHOOL days - the best days of your life?

The photos on these pages seem to indicate that both parents and children might be happy to see the start of the school year after the long summer holidays.

Sometimes, though, you can be sure that those who thought schooldays were the best days of their lives must have been good looking, witty, clever and, of course, good at sport.

Tick these boxes and you probably had a lovely time at school. Cross some or all, and those days may have been more like hell than heaven.

Mind you, if you were far enough down the latter you could be in that special class - the geek. These are the ones who don't know and don't care what anyone else thinks.

In great world they find others like them and spend their school days doing what they enjoy and never mind anyone else.

Not sure if we are channelling our schooldays here or have just watched too many movies such as Revenge of the Nerds, Mean Girls etc.

Anyway, it is lovely to look at these photographs and see children who are happy.

There is nothing with the St James Infant School photo to give any further information about the storm damage to their classroom which forced the children's return to school to the library rather than their old classroom.

The children do not seem to mind, though.

The Butler children on these pages are gorgeous. So cute as they scamper off to school with mum and dad watching them go. In fact the family photos on these pages are heartwarming.

And there is a young celebrity in our midst. The photo of friends reunited shows Cory Spedding and her friends going back to school.

Cory was in the finals for a Junior Eurovision contest, appeared in musical productions and raised thousands for different charities.

We don't know where many of these children are now. What have they grown up to be? Have they achieved their best lives?

We wish them all well with the hope that, school days were only one of the best times of their lives.
