CAPTAIN courageous Scott McAvoy will return to the Haven line-up for this weekend's crunch Super 8 clash with Dewsbury.

The versatile back rower/centre missed last Saturday's win over London after suffering concussion the previous week against Featherstone.

But, after seeing a neurologist on Tuesday, the experienced star will return to boost James Coyle's side, who are on a high following their last victory.

Haven general manager Amanda Hewer was delighted with the news. She said: "He's not a player you want missing from your side. But we had to follow the new guidelines and as this was Scott's second concussion he had to see a neurologist.

"But he has been cleared and is likely to start this weekend.

"The win over London was massive for us. Any win against a team that is in the top four of this league is big but to do it against a full time squad when we are just part time is a huge credit to the lads that got stuck in.

"We were 16-0 down and to fight back just shows the character we have gained over the last couple of months. There is now a real belief in camp that they can go out there and beat anyone."

Hewer admitted that it was slowly becoming a scrap between Haven and Town for the elusive fourth place in the league, that would secure a play-off place.

"It looks as though it is becoming a bit of a scrap between us for fourth, which is great for the fans and the area," she added.

"But we are just taking each game as it comes. We are not thinking we are going to win the league but treating each game like a final and hopefully we will get to where we need to be.

"To finish in the top four would be fantastic considering our start and that is credit to James Coyle and Peter Williams. They have put a lot of hours in and we wouldn't be where we are without them."

The club also announced that long term absentee John Paul Brocklebank was on track with his rehab. The former Egremont Rangers half-back underwent a shoulder operation and is now is physio up to three times a week.

"It seems like it has taken forever for John Paul but with the amount of work he has had done in his shoulder it is no surprise," said Hewer.

"He is in the early stages and he won't be rushed. Our priority is to get him back and fit for next season."
