Front: John W Atkinson, n/k, n/k, Joe Dryden. 18th century gentleman and linen manufacturer James Hogarth, known as King of the Mount, was one of Whitehaven’s early benefactors. He built houses for his workers at Mount Pleasant and a place for them to worship, the Hogarth Mission.
