CUMBRIAN artist Sarah Taylor will be showcasing her distinctive wildlife paintings in a solo exhibition at the Florence Arts Centre.

The Egremont venue welcomes Florence for Florence and Other Animals for a month-long show, from Saturday July 28 to Monday August 27.

St Bees artist Sarah has been making her name for herself over the last couple of years for her contemporary paintings.

The brightly-coloured energetic paintings are exquisitely put together through a combination of geometric pattern and layers of paint, blown all over the place.

The layers of explosive colour are expertly combined to create mesmerising images of animals that captivate the viewer.

She says: "I have always been fascinated by relationship between people and animals, the subconscious desire to anthropomorphise, to project our human character and emotions onto the animal kingdom.

"My current body of work focuses on British wildlife; hunting out special characters and giving them a superstar makeover in the studio.”

The exhibition at Florence will showcase new work, and a selection of canvases and prints. It will be free to view from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm each day, and during events.
