NORTH West indie stars Twisted Wheel have announced their return to Cumbria, alongside some special guests.

The reformed Lancastrian band will be back at The Yellow Earl, in Whitehaven - where they sold out their comeback show earlier this year - for a headline set on Friday November 2.

Fellow returning indie band Detroit Social Club provide main support, with local act The Northern Threads also on the bill.

Twisted Wheel launched their new line-up back in January, and Whitehaven was their first show back after a couple of years away.

Fronted by the precocious Jonny Brown, the original band roared into the race of indie punk with such anthems as You Stole The Sun, She’s a Weapon and Lucy The Castle more than a decade ago.

Their irrepressible energy and ability gained them support slots with Oasis, Kasabian, Paul Weller, The Courteeners, Happy Mondays and Ian Brown to name but a few, as well as sell-outs on their first UK and European tours.

Comprising Harry Lavin, James Highton, Richard Allsopp and Jonny Brown, the band are back on top form, and fresh from their latest appearance at Kendal Calling last month.

Detroit Social Club are another familiar name that re-entered the live circuit this year.

The psychedelic blues-influenced five-piece were hotly tipped by magazines such as NME, finding a moderate amount of nationwide success for their debut album, Existence, and early singles Sunshine People and Rivers and Rainbows.

They also landed high-profile support slots with the likes of Oasis, Primal Scream, Razorlight and The Futureheads, but split before they could make a lasting impression on the UK indie scene.

For this night of nostalgia and high-quality live indie, The Northern Threads will be in their element. Local favourites already, this young outfit have also picked up a reputation for putting on an all-action, high-energy live show.

Tickets for the show on November 2 are available from the venue now, or can be bought online at www.theyellowearl.com
