WHITEHAVEN Rugby League secured their first two points away from home in the 2026 campaign over the weekend.
Haven travelled to Yorkshire on Sunday to take on the Goole Vikings.
The West Cumbrian side came away with a 22-36 win against the Yorkshire outfit.
The club and its fans were delighted with the result and the much-needed two points that they earned.
Coach James Newton said: "I didn't think this day would ever come to be honest, but I'm so proud.
"I can't remember what the score was; we were behind by two tries at the time, I think.
"I knew the introduction of Brad and Jackson would change the game a little bit.
"When I reflected on Workington, I probably should have got Brad into the game a bit sooner than I did.
"But I had a little word with Gus on the sideline, and we could just see their middle starting to go, and we just changed the game plan a bit.
"We got Jackson and Brad on, and he created absolute carnage in the middle.
"We got ruck speed, and listen, Ellison Holgate off the back of ruck speed is going to be dangerous, he was stepping out all over causing havoc, and then that got us on the front foot.
"Listen, I'm absolutely ecstatic to be honest.
"We started the game well again. We worked on it all week this week.
"The one thing I am proud of is that they didn't come through the middle of us in the first half.
"After it was three tries, but they were right in a corner on the edge, so I was really proud of that.
"Still, completion was an area of improvement at halftime. I think we were completing at 60%.
"But I always felt that we were still in that game."
