WHITEHAVEN have held out the hand of friendship to stricken Championship club Featherstone Rovers.
‘Fev’ have been told they cannot compete in the Championship this coming season because of their financial problems.
Whitehaven, who were close to having drop out of League One two years ago, have offered free admission to Featherstone season-ticket holders for a game at the Ortus Rec.
A spokesman for Whitehaven said: “It’s heartbreaking what’s happened to Featherstone Rovers and their fans.
“We were nearly in the same position in 2024, but are now in the process of building things back up.
“As a show of solidarity with their fans, we would like to extend a heartfelt offer that anyone with season tickets can use them to come and watch one of our games for free.
“We know we are miles away, but the Lake District is a lovely holiday destination.”
Whitehaven and Workington aren’t programmed to play Featherstone in the new-style Championship, but Barrow are, away on May 10 and at home on August 15.
How the RFL will resolve the fixture problem with teams set to play more than others, remains to be seen.
