“AN AMAZING result” has been achieved by Wyndham Pony Club in the Pony Club Area Show Jumping competition.

Greenlands Equestrian Centre in Wreay, Carlisle hosted a group of girls from Whitehaven for the regional competition.

Sian Routledge, Abbie Tyson and Emma-Jane Hannah all took part in the competition.

The Wyndham Pony Club girls finished second place in the intermediate class, completing jumps of one metre in two courses.

Teams are made up of three or four riders with the best scores from each round being recorded.

Wyndham were amongst the top five teams with the least faults, who now qualify for the Pony Club Area Show Jumping Championship which is to be held in August in Warwickshire.

Wyndham Pony Club’s riders have a busy few months ahead.

Routledge will be focussing on the British Eventing Competitions.

Tyson and Hannah will be tunnel vision on British Showjumping competitions where they both recently qualified for the Bronze League final, which will also take place in August.

Tyson was top of the league table on Coshla Midknight and Hannah was fifth on Abbeyside Brandy.

Jill Hannah, Emma-Jane’s mum said: “This is an amazing result for the girls as only the top five teams go through to the championships.”

There was a showing of support on the day for each of the competitors.

“The parents are so proud.”

“They’re doing really well, we don’t get many weekends off but it’s all worth it especially when they’ve qualified for the championships they’ve done amazing they really have.”

Phillip Tyson said: “Well done to Wyndham pony club for a well run and very enjoyable day for all the riders.”

Simon Beedie captured the event on camera and was impressed by the skills on show.

He said: “Well done to everybody at the Area 2 Show Jumping competition. There were some amazing teams on show who demonstrated some outstanding riding.

“The competition was fierce however I was more impressed by the fantastic riding that was on show by all competitors.

“Well done to everybody.”

The girls will take part in a major event in August after their success in Carlisle.

Tetrathlon and Polo will be involved in the sporting programme at the championships in Warwickshire for the first time.

Mounted Games, Polocrosse and Tetrathlon Championship competitions will be followed by Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing and Polo. The show jumping takes place between Tuesday August 17 and Sunday 22
