STAR Whitehaven Rugby League player Lachlan Walmsley will not face any further action after he faced a disciplinary panel.

The Australian full back faced potential headbutt charge after the squad faced Swinton earlier on in the season.

However, a panel ruled that the player was to face no further action for the charges that he was faced with.

It will come as welcome news to Whitehaven who will be happy to have their star player back at the club.

Whitehaven RL CEO Andrew Canavan said: “Against Swinton there was two men sent to the sin bin at the same time, they both took exception to each other.”

He said: “I think the game at that point looked like it could boil over slightly. The yellow card possible avoided that.

He said: “We feel the disciplinary panel came to the right decision there and perhaps the referee should be applauded for making the decision that probably helped calm the game down.”

Haven will be pleased that Walmsley, one of their top players, is available for their crunch Championship clashes.

Canavan said: “Our next three games are massive, we have Oldham at home a week on Sunday, Newcastle at Home, Dewsbury.

“We can effectively put a bit of daylight between us and the other teams by beating Oldham.”
