A SUPER League star is set to join Whitehaven RLFC.

Andy Thornley, 32, has signed with Haven, the side announced today.

The championship back rower is a familiar face to the Recreation Ground.

He has previously appeared in 57 games wearing chocolate blue and gold.

In total, Thornley has made well over 200 appearances in his career so far.

In that time he has crossed the try line 36 times, six for Haven.

However, most recently Thornley has played for Super League side Leigh Centurions. Thornley played for a Centurions in a highly competitive clash against Toulouse Olympique.

Head coach, Gary Charlton said: “We are pleased to have Andy on board. He is a championship standard player with plenty of experience. We have lost a couple of back row forwards for a few weeks. We feel Andy will keep up the competition for places in that position.

“We look forward to seeing what Andy brings to this team.”
