Whitehaven shot-stopper Dean Henderson was handed a Champions League debut last night as Manchester United travelled to Istanbul Basaksehir for a group game.
It was the former Carlisle United youth product who got the nod in goal ahead of usual first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea for the clash as the Red Devils looked to make it three wins in a row in the competition.
Henderson, who spent last season on loan with Sheffield United, had previously been restricted to EFL Cup appearances this campaign with De Gea handling goalkeeping duties in all other competitions.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side beat Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig in their first group games.
