KENDAL Town have been removed from the FA Trophy after fielding two ineligible players.

The Mintcakes were set to face Buxton on Saturday after defeating Brighouse Town 1-0.

Emil Jaaskelainen scored the only goal of the game last Saturday.

But the Football Association has now confirmed Town have been removed from the competition because two players had not been registered 'in accordance with the rules',

An FA spokesman said: “An FA National Game Competitions Sub-Committee removed Kendal Town FC from the 2020/21 Buildbase FA Trophy following a breach of FA Trophy Rule 15.

“The club was found to have fielded two ineligible players in the Second Round Qualifying.

“These players had not been registered in accordance with the competition’s rules.”

The ruling by the committee is still subject to any future appeals.

The club has been contacted but did not reply as The Gazette went to press.
