GOLF players were out in force in the latest showing from Seascale Golf Club.

The Mixed Tee Medal saw 127 members on the course. Keith Hunt (9) and Terry Russell (9), both on 67 took first and second spots in division one with Terry Conaghan (4)68 in third. Ralph Jacklin (15) came back to walk division two with his nett 61. Dave Jackman (13)66 took second and Geoff Nugent (13)67 third. Adrian Bartlett (21) and Paul Ried (24), both with 66 took first and second in division three. Seven Twos were recorded. In Sunday's Independence Cup, Andy Lloyd (11) with a nett 65 lifted the Cup by two strokes from Terry Russell (8)67. Dave Woodend’s 68 off 12 earned him third place from Antony Leak (10)69. The next five winners were Mickey Benn (6), Michael Gray (26), Bill Jenkinson (9), Steve Sharpe (6) and Paul Woods (29). Andy Wallace (3) maintained good form taking the Best Gross prize with a round of 74, sinking his second shot on the fourth, a par four. Seven other Twos were returned.

After 13 rounds Andy Wallace took the top stop with a nett differential of -6.

Seascale Ladies were able to hold their delayed Captain’s Day recently in pleasant conditions. They turned out in rainbow colours in honour of NHS heroes. Lady Captain Sara Scott teed off well at the 1st for her charity drive-in. The Captain’s Team won the Captain v Vice captain match. In the individual competition June Hardisty came first followed by Christine Graham and Brenda McCaffery. The secret pairs were Mel Temple and Abby Roper. Nearest the pin at the 5th went to Christine Graham and at the 10th to Mel Temple.
