The Hound Trailing season gets under way this Saturday at Wardhall.

The sport, as others, has to adhere to strict rules.

A spokesman said: "The meeting will be run under Covid 19 rules, trails will be open to members only and strict abeyance to the rules will be required, these rules can be viewed on the official HTA website.

"Can all members ensure they abide by the rules and nobody unless they are the official scout will be allowed to go out to road crossings, thank you.

"Anybody wanting to become a member can contact HTA Treasurer John Bromage details are on the HTA website."

Over the past few weeks trial trails have taken place at Lazonby, Cold Fell, Kirkstone, Kirkland Leaps, Dubbs Lane, Windermere.

Pups which have shown promise have been Brian Graham and Julie Birkinshaw’s Young Harry who has won at Lazonby, Kirkstone and Kirkland Leaps, their other charge Bretton has been closely following Young Harry.

Ashleigh, Aaron and Alan Horn and Christopher Henderson’s Intensity and Insane have also been showing promise.

Joy and Brian Lister’s Imagine has been running well and will be at “home” (as they say) for the first meeting of the season at Wardhall.

Others to follow will obviously be Denise Bland’s charges Huntsman’s Prince and Jenny’s Quest. James McClellan’s Miss Ava will be one to watch in the coming weeks as things start to settle down.

In the seniors last year’s puppy champion Reg Smith’s Acorn has been running well at Lazonby, along with Graham Reid’s Our Man Mike and Les Reid’s Liz who particularly likes Wardhall.

Others to follow will be last year’s senior champion Evie and Jonty Moore’s Crazy, Sophie Steele’s Miterdale Shadow and Denise Bland’s Huntsman’s kennel.

Bill Mellon’s Cracking Last one and Paul Airey’s Meadow Josie have also been showing promise. The playing field this year will be an interesting one and one to remember.
