M-Sport’s young rising star Adrian Fourmaux and co-driver Renaud Jamoul took the overall victory in this year's Malcolm Wilson Rally.

The Frenchman and his Belgian team-mate guided the rally team’s EcoBoost-powered Ford Fiesta R5 MkII around the course in 47 minutes and 25 seconds and also claimed the United Steel Cup/the MacDonald Trophy for a special performance by a WCMSC crew.

Less than two minutes behind were Stephen Petch and Michael Wilkinson behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta RS WRC in a time of 49:03, while Russ Thompson and Andy Murphy in their Mitsubishi Evo 9 were third in the overall rankings in 49:30.

The N3 class was won by Jonny Sproat and Peter Johnson, with their Ford Fiesta ST coming home in 58:33, while the NR4 class saw Scott Faulkner and Steve Link’s Mitsubishi Evo IX finish in 50:51 and Elliot Payne and Michael Gilbey finished in 54:30 to win the R2 class.

Class B10 was taken by Mark Shaw and James Coxon in 57 minutes in a Talbot Sunbeam Ti, with Andy Davison and Tom Murphy winning the B11 class in a Talbot Sunbeam VXR with a time of 54:04 and B12 went to Rob Wright and Mark Fisher in their Ford Escort Mk2 in 54:26.

The Subaru Impreza of Jock Armstrong and Cameron Fair got round in 49:48 to win B13, with Dylan Davies and Llion Williams clinching B14 in their Škoda Fabia in 49:59 and Stuart Egglestone and Brian Hodgson’s Ford Escot Mk11 winning the H1/2 class in 52:25 and also taking the Jack Neal Trophy for the best presented car at scrutineering.

Class H3 was won by Matthew Robinson and Graham Wilcock in a time of 52:24 in a Ford Escort RS, while H4 went to Mark Holmes and Matt Daniels in 56:19 in a Ford Escort Mk1.

The Proton Satria of Mat Smith and Chris Row was first in the 1400S class in 53:35, with the 1400C class won topped by Richard Garnett and Rob Gilham in their Nissan Micra in 1:00:41.

The RF1.4 class was claimed by David Barr and Neil Mitchell-Hunter in a VW Rally First Car Polo in 1:00:54 and Simon Double and Jessica Mitchell won the RF2.0 in their MG Zr160 in 1:04:18.

The KLMC Shield for special performance by a KLMC crew went to Marcus Noble and Helen Noble in their Ford Escort Mk2 in 54:59 while the top MCC crew

A special performance by the MCC crew of Tom Harrison and Marcus Pomfret in their Ford Escort in 1:03:35 saw them take the David Holmes Memorial Trophies.

The Keswick Plate for the best all-Cumbrian crew went to Anthony Hanson and Brad Sowerby, who steered their Vauxhall Chevette round in 1:00:33, while Dave Brick and Rob Woodhouse got their Vauxhall Astra round to take the Comb and Hobcarton Trophy for the best aggregate performance by a two-wheel drive car on SS1 and SS2.

The South Lakeland Trophy for the Spirit of the Rally was handed to Katy Mashiter and the best manned stage – as judged by the course cars – was said to be SS2 Comb, commanded by Steve Bethwaite.

More than 90 drivers tackled the 44-mile rally – named after the sport's Cumbrian legend – across seven stages, which forms part of the BTRDA, Motorsport UK English and ANECCC championships.
