Copeland Amateur Swimming Club swimmers took on the county's best in the Swim Cumbria Age Group and County Championships.

In the 10-year-old age group Saffi Walker and Freddy Sutton acquitted themselves admirably, with Freddy claiming first place in the freestyle and butterfly and second in the breaststroke. Saffi continued to show great promise, claiming third in the breaststroke.

Noah Oliver demonstrated great consistency across all strokes, claiming first in backstroke, breaststroke and the individual medley, as well as top-three places in freestyle and butterfly.

Luke Makin claimed county badges for top-three finishes in backstroke, freestyle and individual medley and in the process has secured North West Regional qualifying times. Joshua Lowes was the lone competitor in the 200 butterfly event and managed to qualify for the county final.

The pick of the junior boys was Copeland's Jackson Jardine, who dominated the 13-year-old age group and secured first in no fewer than 11 events. Jackson has also qualified for 12 events in the upcoming regional competition.

In the junior girls' competition, Jaya Sparshott claimed third in the butterfly and Scarlett Robinson was second in the 400 individual medley.

Poppy Oliver finished first in the breaststroke and in the top three in freestyle and backstroke. Poppy also gained a regional qualifying time in the backstroke.

Michael Conery claimed third places in the butterfly events while Sol Downton was another swimmer to gain regional qualifying times.

In the senior swimmers, Copeland continued to enjoy success with Finlay Quayle first in the 100 and 200 butterfly and second in the breaststroke events. Fin also qualified for county finals in the breaststroke and butterfly.

Toby Patton continued to improve, delivering personal best swims throughout the weekend with highlights in the freestyle and butterfly where he secured several regional qualifying times.

In the open events Isaac Hinde finished third in the 200 butterfly and Rebecca Wilson managed to break a club record in the 50 backstroke county final, as well as reaching county finals and placing third in the breaststroke and freestyle.

Rebecca Amor claimed county titles in 50, 100 and 200 butterfly, 50 and 100 freestyle and came second in the 100 medley event.

In the county relays, Copeland finished in the medals in the medley and freestyle events to finish a very successful competition on a high.
