As the March trial trails get into full swing, a number of kennel doubles have emerged over the week giving owners hope for the new season ahead which starts officially on April 1.

Tuesday saw the first of the Kirkbride Grassing series held, with 22 juniors on the trail as Ashley Horn and Christopher Henderson’s Integrity took the victory ahead of Jenny Horn and Ronnie Ridley’s Spring Music with Joanna and Molly Sattertwaite and Martin Burrow’s Thorn Rose third.

In the senior trails Graham Reid claimed a double, firstly in the seniors with Our Man Mike, who took the spoils ahead of Bill Mellon’s Cracking Last One and Les Reid’s Liz, and secondly in the all-in as Red Will took the win ahead of Jenny and Ronnie’s Spring Rascal and Alan Blacklock’s Limber.

Saturday saw a trip to the Eskdale Valley for the first of the Low Place meetings, with 14 juniors taking to the trail and Denise Bland’s Jenny’s Quest – currently of currently Edward and Lisa Crosby’s kennel – won ahead of Nicola and Darren McMaster and Sharon Taylor’s Silver Dancer in second and Denise’s Huntsman’s Prince in third.

In the seniors a double was obtained by the Steele family as Miterdale Duchess beat Stuart Smith and Nicola Wilson’s Prospect Spring with Red Will in third, while in the all-in trail young trailer Alfie Steele was delighted as his two-year-old Miterdale Plainsman took the victory ahead of Miterdale Rusty and Louise Pounder’s Lady Bethan.

Sunday saw a return to Plumpton in the Eden Valley, where 29 juniors took to the trail and Shirley Crosland and Brian Graham’s Young Harry took the win by half a length ahead of last week’s winner James and Ava McClellan’s Miss Ava, with Russell and Wendy Dawson’s Westlife in third.

Thirty-nine seniors took to the trail which saw Shirley and Brian’s Reebok pip James and Ava’s Mine with Graham Reid’s Our Man Mike in third.

The all-in saw Bill Mellon’s Cracking Last One beat Russell and Wendy’s Buble and Michelle Addison and David Clifford’s Eden Raya.
