Station Road A shocked the Window Outlet Cockermouth and District Snooker League’s top-tier leaders this week with a superb home performance to record a 4-2 win.

The home side were quick out of the blocks as Tom Thompson took the first and team-mates Mike Walker and Darren Lawson made it 3-0.

An Alan Moore victory pulled one back for Cons but with a black-ball win for Geoff Smith an unassailable 4-1 Station A lead was gained, only for the Cons’ Ryan Barker to secure a well-deserved point.

The United Club moved to the top of Division Two as they drew 3-3 at home against Division One’s Station Road B.

A Kevin Kirkham first-frame win was cancelled out by United’s Clive Lister and, as Sal Cakmak impressively won the third, the United Club were 2-1 up.

A black-ball victory by Andrew Mitchelhill put his side 3-1 up but wins from Simon Frazer and Shaun Ayre delivered parity.

Workington’s Veterans Club improved their position in the Division One table with a 5-1 home victory against second-tier Maryport Social.

A low-scoring first-frame victory for Ben Scott was as good as it got for the Maryport side as Paul Mostyn started the ball rolling with a win.

Wins for Mike Dawson and Steve Garroway put Vets 3-1 up but it was team-mate Mark Tatton who produced the Vets’ highlight with a remarkable victory.

The last frame saw a strong lead finished as Kevin Basnett cleared for a 5-1 match win.

Finally, Division One’s Workington Golf Club added five points to the six they achieved last week with a 5-1 win over Division Two’s Flimby Social.

Mark Brasted and Bryan Walker took frames one and two for a 2-0 Golf Club lead but Flimby’s Richard Kirkham made it 2-1.

Lewis Tilley, Stephen Jackson then Ian Fulton made it 5-1.
