The Hensingham Darts League’s doubles qualifying rounds saw four pairs power into the finals.

The qualifiers were held at two venues on Friday night, with the winning pairs going forward to the play-off on the presentation night on Friday, March 20 in Lowca Rugby Club.

Venue one was the Hensingham Club where the darts on the night were of a high standard and the first pair to qualify were Scott McKelvey and Darren Lockheart, of the Bennie’s club, who defeated their own team-mates David Finnegan and Todd Cowell 2-0.

In the second qualifying leg, the reigning champions from the 2018/19 season – Scanner Bone and David Addison – powered their way to the finals by seeing off the St Begh’s duo of Mike Smith and Lee McKee 2-0.

Maximum 180s were recorded by McKelvey and Bone.

At the second venue in the JJ McKeown Bar at the Recreation Ground, local pair Jack Wilson and John Telford booked their place in the play-offs by defeating the Vets’ pair of Mel Walker and John Burns 2-1, while in the other game Vets’ pair Andrew Carruthers and Wayne Burns saw off the Lowca pair of Bill Armstrong and Brian Jamieson 2-0.

Maximum 180s were recorded by Walker of the Vets Club.
