Station Road D were crowned the APH Travel Team Knockout champions in the Workington Pool League.

They faced Grapes who had enjoyed a successful 1st season in the A league. The match started with Grapes’ Tony Elliot taking a superb clearance off the break.

In a race to five frames it was A league leading player Steven Cook who levelled the match 1-1 before Wayne King, Dave Edwards and Grant Porter took Station Road within one frame of the title.

Alan Cavanagh was unlucky not to take a clearance from the break but he got a second bite of the cherry to pull one back for the Grapes.

At 4-2 to Station Road it was the Grapes who pulled another frame back thanks to Tony Elliot and his doubles partner Frankie Peel. But the combination of Steve Cook and Wayne King got Station Road over the line for a 5-3 victory.

In the APH Travel Team Knockout Plate A League winners Senhouse Street were looking to add a second title to their roster for the year against B League runners up JJs B. Mike Walker got Senhouse Street off to a winning start but Gary Robinson levelled the match taking a tough clearance off the break. Alexander Smith gave JJs a 2-1 lead before Senhouse fought back as Steven Lowery and Tom Thompson gave Senhouse a 3-2 lead.

The next two frames were shared before Graeme Scott and Aaron Holmes set up the decider at 4-4. After a tight frame JJ’s were gifted a golden opportunity to win the match and Alexander Smith then gave JJ’s a well earned victory with both sides attentions now firmly fixed on the top 4 in their relative leagues.
