Workington Reds are looking to grow the next generation of supporters by offering free tickets to local schools.

Reds have five home games remaining at Borough Park this season as they bid to avoid relegation from the Northern Premier League.

And they are hoping to boost attendances on the terraces to give the players an extra man to urge them on.

Club chairman John Mackay said they were appealing to local youngsters to come and get a taste of the action.

“We want to see as many kids as possible come along and obviously bring their parents with them to turn up the atmosphere at Borough Park,” said Mackay.

“And we are looking towards the future as well.

“Everyone remembers their first football match that they went to and hopefully some of these kids will come down and keep coming.

“It is our chance to widen the net to as many youngsters as possible.

“We already have mascots each week but now we want to appeal to youngsters that attend all the schools in the area.

If local schools would like to take Reds up on their offer of free admission for pupils under the age of 16 to any of Workington AFC’s remaining five league fixtures – please email: commercial@workingtonafc.com and they will send out a batch of complimentary tickets.
