Young rugby league players will benefit from a cash boost to their club in Kells.
Councillor Chris Hayes who represents Kells on Whitehaven Town Council, has given a £500 grant to the club to support the development of their talented youngsters.
Coun Hayes said: “It was my pleasure to be able to support the work the club does with young people.
“Being an ex-youth coach myself, I believe getting youngsters involved in team activities teaches young people many things including respect and being part of a team.
“These young people are a great bunch who are a credit to the club, their coaches and their parents and I am sure some are going to go on to play professionally as I have witnessed their dedication.”
The club’s youth section posted a thank you message on Facebook.
They said: “Big thanks goes out to Chris Hayes for his kind donation of £500 to our under-10s.
“Thanks very much from all at Kells rugby league.”
