Cleator Moor Celtic managed only a point from two games last week, including a 4-0 home defeat to AFC Liverpool.

The point came four days later when they finished all square 3-3 at Garstang after they had a two goal advantage going into the last 15 minutes.

The first half against Liverpool proved to be a nightmare as the home side looked second best and allowed the visitors to score three times.

Harry Avis fired the visitors in front after only two minutes and 10 minutes later a weak back pass from Stuart Shaw let in Callum Schean and he gave Craig Devine no chance with a good finish.

Celtic had half chances through Shaw and Tom Mahone but it was all in vain as the visitors went three up on half time as a Dion Barnes clearance only found Sean McGrane and he fired the ball home.

Manager John George replaced Shaw with Luke Close and pushed Tom Ward up from defence and Celtic looked and played better.

A superb Mahone cross eluded everyone and a Ward free kick hit the wall which was not back the full ten yards.

Liverpool stepped it up as man of the match Schean hit his second and his team’s fourth.

At Garstang on Saturday on a heavy pitch Celtic had to withstand a home barrage for five minutes as cross after cross went begging while Craig Rule saved one goalbound shot.

Gradually Celtic came into the game and started to create chances, going close when Craig Corkhill headed over from a corner.

On 25 minutes Ryan Hall was bundled over in the box the referee pointed to the spot and skipper Tom Mahone slotted it away.

Two minutes later Celtic were two up as a Shaw throw was fed to Reuben Butterworth. His cross found Darren Little and a good ball to man of the match Leigh Dunn was fired home superbly.

The home side pulled one back just before half-time when Richard Coar slotted past Rule.

At the start of the second half Celtic rode their luck but survived and mid way through the half Butterworth, Dunn and Hall linked-up well for the third goal. It was Dunn who hit the ball past William Kitchen from the edge of the box.

Garstang survived a goalmouth scramble and Corkhill headed over a Shaw corner but with 15 minutes left a bullet header at the back post from Daniel Birch made it 2-3.

There was a dramatic finish as decisions went against the Cumbrians with Shaw shown a straight red card on 96 minutes and in the eighth minute of time added on the home side equalised. McKenna thumped the ball home through a crowded area.

Celtic have no game this weekend but on Saturday, February 2 they are away to Lower Breck followed on Tuesday, February 5 with a home tie against Carlisle United in the quarter-final of the Cumberland Cup.
