Copeland lost out to Cumbria in the Denny Cup.

Cumbria’s Eddie Murray, David Linton, Rae Graham and Stuart Irwin made a bright start against David Blacklock at home.

They led by nine after five ends, 12 after 10 ends and eventually both sides shook hands after 16 ends with the winning margin being 17.

On the other home rink Paul Barlow, Mark Nanson, John Wills and Ian Gallagher were quick out of the blocks against Colin Martin.

They led by five after five ends, 15 after 10 ends and they too shook hands after 16 ends with the margin at 20.

At Cleator Ken Johnstone, Alan Glendinning, Graeme Vipond and Stuart Airey faced Copeland’s best skip David Forster.

Airey led by four at five ends, the same at ten ends and they shook hands after fourteen ends.

On the other rink Greg Rice, Robert Carruthers, John Baird and Stephen Farish led by three after five ends, 12 after 10 ends and the hosts conceded after 13 ends.
