Wath Brow Hornets ARLFC created a new award for their annual presentation evening.
Held recently, the club’s open age presentation included the Tommy Taylor MBE Memorial Youth Player of the Year award.
It is to remember Tommy Taylor, who was the man behind the introduction of the club’s youth system many years ago.
After he died last year, his family were keen to keep his memory alive and donated this trophy to the club as a fitting memorial.
Tommy was also the West Cumbria Youth League chairman.
His son Paul Taylor and grandson Cole were on hand to present the trophy to this year’s winner, Devan Sharp, from the Hornets’ under-12 side.
Devan has played a big part in his team’s success this season, with some standout performances and also captaining the team throughout the year.
Over the years Mr Taylor held several roles within the British Amateur Rugby League Association. He spent time as vice chairman of the organisation and was also BARLA Youth chairman.
