Haven coach Gary Charlton has promised new signings are imminent after recruitment stalled at the club.

Ten members of Charlton's squad for 2019 were confirmed by October 8 but no players have been added over the past three weeks.

However, the recently-appointed coach is happy with his preparations and has four or five new faces ready to commit to the club.

He said: "We've got a few players lined up to come in, I'd expect them to sign in the next week or two.

"I'm very happy with them, we've got some decent players and we're starting to put our squad together.

"We just need to put the finishing touches on it."

Former Hensingham amateur Jordan Thomson was the last man to sign on for next year's League One campaign.

Charlton said: "It just takes time, nothing happens overnight. There's been a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes.

"We've done quite a lot of background work on the players we want to bring in.

"I don't expect lads to sign there and then when we first approach them.

"We'll hopefully have a good part of our squad ready for pre-season."

Charlton, who has been looking to recruit local talent, has previously said he hopes to start pre-season training in December.

He was appointed as Haven's new coach at the beginning of October and took over from Carl Forster, who has joined Rochdale Hornets.

The former Haven, Town, Barrow and Carlisle player is being assisted at the Recreation Ground by Jonty Gorley and Scott McAvoy.

Haven struggled financially last season, with an aborted takeover and a public appeal for support.

However, club chairman Tom Todd recently revealed the appointment of two new directors has breathed new life into the club.

He praised Andrew Canavan and Jason Ball for their contributions.

"Financially we've turned a bit of a corner; we've got some new sponsorship and that's helped us greatly," said Todd.

"With the extra people in the background it’s really created a buzz, because we were struggling at the tail-end of last season with numbers.

"With Andrew, Jason and another announcement to come shortly, that’s given us a real boost."
