Karl Olstrom says he feels at home at Workington Town after signing a new deal to keep him at Derwent Park.

Olstrom rejoined the club midway through the last season and then sealed his place in coach Leon Pryce's side.

Now he says he intends to have a strong pre-season and be ready to help the club challenge for promotion from League One in 2019.

"I’ve always loved my time at the club and have spent most of my career here," said Olstrom.

"I feel at home at Workington and so does my family which is the most important thing to me. The lads I play with are my brothers and we all look out for one another.

"The club runs right through the board, the staff and the fans and that’s what I love about the place.

"I’m looking forward to a great pre-season and I’d like to thank Argo Crossfit for my off season plans and Powerhouse Gym.

"With their help I intend to be at the peak of fitness and hit the ground running from the first match."

Olstrom also had thanks for help with his training, adding: "Big thanks to Dan Carr and Dave Scott for off season plans and training at Whitehaven Argo Crossfit and also Ian Chambers from the Powerhouse Gym in Whitehaven."

Town director of rugby Les Ashe is delighted to see Olstrom remain at Derwent Park.

He said: "After re-joining us mid season Karl has been an ever present in the team. His athleticism and fitness are second to none and his all round ability is there for all to see.

"The opposition know they have been in a contest whenever he plays. He runs strongly, tackles hard and does big minutes every match .

"We’re delighted he’s signed for next season and he joins a really strong group of players ready to get into pre-season."
