Whitehaven Amateurs Under-13 Blues had a convincing victory over Seaton Athletic to stay in contention at the top end of the West Cumbria Youth League table.

The Blues have 15 points from their games so far, along with Seaton United and Windscale Juniors, the trio sitting just behind league leaders Cleator Moor Celtic, on 18 points with a maximum haul so far from six games.

Amateurs clinched another victory when they beat Seaton Athletic 8-0 but Whitehaven’s other team at this age group, the Yellows went down at the hands of Seaton United 9-2. Cleator Moor Celtic remain on a winning streak, with a 9-0 victory at the home of Workington Wolves while St Bees Juniors took an away win at Workington Reds 4-2.

The final match was the closest, with Cockermouth United just edging a nine-goal thriller with Senhouse Juniors 5-4.

Under-12 red division leaders Moor Row Reds stay on top after they beat Workington Reds Blacks 3-1 and Workington Reds Whites beat Maryport Amateurs 9-1.

In the Under-12 blue division there was more action. Whitehaven Miners Social are the only side to have maximum points so far this season, after an 8-3 win over Grassroad Sharks.

Whitehaven AFC Blues picked up a win on the road at Seaton United 3-0. The Whitehaven midfield dominated for much of the game with their first goal coming after Jordan Bainbridge broke through, leaving him one-on-one with the Seaton keeper who saved his shot only for it to rebound into the path of Jayden Leatham, who placed it into the bottom left corner.

Whitehaven’s second goal came after Ben Hodgson converted a well-timed pass from Jordan Bainbridge making the score 2-0 at half time.

The second half started much as the first half finished with the Whitehaven midfield and defence combining with excellent team work and individual performances from Joshua Groggins, Harley Bowness and Adam Lancaster, meaning keeper Zac Clarke had little to do.

However he did pull off a great double save after a goal-line tussle, ensuring Whitehaven kept a clean sheet. Whitehaven’s third and final goal came from Dominic Durlej.

Dearham Rangers just edged out Moor Row Reds 3-2 but there was no winner as Silloth Mini Gulls and St Bees locked horns, with both sides playing their part in a 6-6 draw.

In the Under-14 league, Cleator Moor Celtic picked up their third win in as many games when they beat Windscale 9-0 while table- toppers Workington Rangers beat Whitehaven AFC Juniors 9-1.

Workington Reds Whites defeated their own Blacks side 5-1 while Maryport Athletic got the upper hand against St Bees to edge them out 5-4.

Turning to the Under-16 league, Bransty Rangers were convincing in their 9-0 win over Whitehaven Miners Social and Maryport Athletic U16s got the better of Workington Reds Juniors U15s 9-1.

Workington Reds Blacks U16s had a tight game with Workington Wanderers Whites U15s before they ran out 3-2 victors.

Cleator Moor Celtic U16s ran out 7-1 winners over Whitehaven AFC U15s while Seaton Juniors U15s beat Maryport Amateurs U15s 4-1.

The last game was between two under-15 sides as Cockermouth Pan-thers beat Windscale Juniors 5-1.

There were two games in the Under-18 league as Workington Reds Whites beat Maryport Amateurs 6-1 and Moor Row U17s edged out Workington Reds Blacks 5-4 in a tight encounter.

Whitehaven AFC Whites are leading the way in the Under-12 Girls league, following their 5-0 win over Maryport Amateurs.

Allerdale Girls got the better of Workington Diamonds Whites 4-1 while Moor Row beat Whitehaven AFC Blues 4-0. The last game saw Workington Diamonds’ Red side beat Cockermouth Juniors 4-1.

Moving on to the Under-14 Girls league, it was a tight game between Whitehaven AFC’s U13 Blues but they just lost out to Workington Diamonds 5-4.

The other game was a little clearer as two goals sealed it for Cockermouth Juniors, with no reply from Whitehaven AFC U14s.
