The eyes of the amateur rugby league world will turn on Egremont Rangers this weekend as their clash at Rochdale Mayfield is televised.

The Kingstone Press National Conference League has secured a two year deal with Rugby AM and free-to-air sports channel FreeSports.

And Egremont will be one of the first sides to appear in front of the cameras - with assistant coach John Brocklebank hoping they put on a good show.

"It is good if it promotes the game and gives us a window to the rest of the UK, to show the skills we have in this small town," said Brocklebank.

"I just hope that we go there and do the town and the area proud.

"We want to show what we can do, playing in a competitive game of open rugby league.

"Mayfield are a good side and play open rugby, much like ourselves, so it should be a good game to watch."

Player/coach John Paul Brocklebank is back fully fit and chomping at the bit to lead his side into action in this season's premier division campaign.

And he will be joined by strong-running forward Stephen Fox who has returned to the fold from Whitehaven.

Egremont were disappointed with their finish last term but with a fit squad, hopes are high for a top six finish in 2018.

John Brocklebank continued: "We were disappointed that our game was off last weekend due to the weather, especially as we have a fully fit squad for the first time ever.

"This time last year we had eight injuries having played in the Challenge Cup so we started in difficulty.

"So we are hoping for more success at the start of this season and we want to be up there in the mix.

"We don't want to be teetering around the relegation zone again this year, we want to try and aim for the top six and I think if we can stay healthy then we have a good chance."

The game will be shown on Saturday on FreeSports channel 424 on Sky , as well as channel 95 on all Freeview and Free-sat boxes at 4.45pm.
