Hensingham Darts League’s presentation night was topped off by the crowning of the doubles and singles play-off champions.

It was held last Friday night in the Haven Club and turned out to be a special night for Clive Smitham of the Vine A team.

After last winning the league’s singles title back in 1976 – some 42 years ago – he rolled back the clock to repeat the feat on the night.

Smitham met and defeated Scanner Bone of the Haven Club in the semis 3-1 to line up a final appearance against David Addison of Haven, who won his semi-final 3-1 over Brian Laverick.

Clive won the final 4-2 to complete this very special double.

In the doubles semi-finals Scanner and David Addison defeated Brian Laverick and Mark Todhunter 3-1.

In the other semi-final John Pilkington and Kieran Timmins (HARLFC) beat Billy Morgan and Tobias McAteer (St Begh’s) 3-1.

The final was a close match until the fifth game where the better darts from the Haven pair proved too good on the night and they went on to win 4-2.

There were six maximum 180s recorded on the night from Kieran Timmins (2), David Addison, John Pilkington, Scanner Bone and Clive Smitham.
