Workington Comets have been boosted by the news that Ty Proctor should be fit to ride in tomorrow night’s crunch clash against Glasgow Tigers at Derwent Park (7pm start).

Comets have already raced Glasgow three times this season, beating them at Ashfield in the Championship Shield before the sides drew at Derwent Park in the same competition as Workington progressed to the semi-finals.

Then Workington visited Glasgow in the SGB Championship last Friday, going down 50-40 without Dan Bewley and Proctor.

But the latter, who was missing due to injury, is expected to resume his place in the team tomorrow night as Workington bid to climb off the bottom of the table.

Bewley will again be away this weekend as he looks to progress in the European Under-21 semi-finals so Comets will use the rider replacement facility in his place.

The youngster has also been called up for Great Britain’s Young Lions squad for the World Under-21 Team Cup at Glasgow on July 14.

He will lead a team including Nathan Greaves, Ellis Perks, Zach Wajtknecht and Connor Mountain against Australia, Germany and the Czech Republic.
