Stevie Scholey should be available for Workington Town's clash with Coventry Bears on Sunday.

Scholey picked up a knock to the sternum in last weekend's win over Keighley Cougars.

But the tough as teak front rower has put his hand up to play, if needed, when the Bears head to Derwent Park, kick-off 3pm.

"Stevie should be okay for this week," said Town assistant coach Craig McDowell.

"But, with no disrespect to Coventry, we should be strong favourites for this game and if we have got room to rest players, then we possibly will.

"We should be winning this game at home, and comfortably.

"So if players are carrying knocks and we can rest them, then it could be worthwhile this week."

A highlight of last Sunday's win over the Cougars, was the first positive glimpse of new on-loan signing Tyllar Mellor.

Coach Leon Pryce just beat the signing deadline at the end of last month to add Huddersfield duo Tyler Dickinson and Mellor.

And Mellor showed some of his potential, playing on the wing and bagging a good try in the corner, as well as also saving a try, bundling a Cougars star into touch.

"He has pace and I would like to see him make a break," admitted McDowell. "But he had a good solid debut.

"He only really came up with one error and the plus for him is he scored a try and he also saved one.

"He is only a young lad and, hopefully, we can improve him and he can move on to bigger and better things in his career.

"But we are very happy with how he has showed up, especially as he has only trained once or twice.

"I know he prefers to play full-back but he is happy to adapt into any position as long as he is playing."
