Workington Town coach Leon Pryce is treating Sunday's huge game against League One leaders York City Knights as any other.

There will be no special preparation but Pryce remembers, too well, the last time the teams met.

"I was embarrassed that day," reflected Pryce. "It was like men against boys," he said, casting his mind back to the 40-8 defeat in Yorkshire on June 8.

"I learned a lot from that game. They absolutely stuffed us."

The Knights top the league by two points from Braford Bulls, courtesy of Town brilliant 24-18 victory at Odsal nine days ago.

Pryce added: "I have a good relationship with York coach James Ford and have a lot of respect for him.

"I personally believe York are the benchmark of the competition and are the best team in League One. They are very professionally organised and have a very professional set up.

"If we beat them on Sunday, I think Bradford will go up as champions.

"So, as before the game at Bradford, there's no pressure on us.

"We have home advantage, we're playing well, and we are coming off the back of a win at Bradford who were top before that game.

"There's no doubt the lads will be up for it."

Pryce reported that there were no new injuries to worry about, prior to the York clash.

York's point-scored differential is 38 points superior to Bulls, but a Town win and a Bradford win at home to ninth-placed Keighley on Sunday, could change all that.

Although rumours on social media suggest that the proposal tabled to put three teams up from League One to the Championship at the end of this season has been voted out, Whitehaven News Sport believes that the vote has yet to be conducted.
