Dave Hewson is taking stock ahead of tomorrow's trip to Hednesford Town with several players taking knocks.

Conor Tinnion is doubtful as he is struggling with a knee problem and both Brad Hubbold and Niall Cowperthwaite were on the bench on Tuesday night due to injury.

And the match is probably still too early to see the return of Sam Smith in defence.

But the bonus for Reds will be the return of striker Jason Walker, after serving a three match suspension.

"We have to make the most of this week and recover and take stock," said joint manager Hewson.

"I was close to putting myself in I think on Tuesday. Brad just hadn't recovered from a knock he took on Saturday so it was too much of a risk for him.

"And Niall had an incident at work, he suffered an injury to his ribs just before the game so we had to adjust to and change shape and personnel.

"I will give lads as long as we possibly can before Saturday. I think Brad should be fine but it will be too early for Sam Smith.

"Conor Tinnion has had two really tough games and he is struggling with a knee problem so he might struggle.

"But Jason Walker is coming back so that will give everyone a lift and a chance for everyone to see possibly him and Scotty as a partnership."

Reds won their FA Cup first round qualifying replay on Tuesday night over Newcastle Benfield in a 5-3 thriller.

And another bonus for Reds was Scott Allison playing the full 90 minutes as he nears full fitness.

Hewson added: "He was getting back to his normal self, he tired towards the end but I'm just putting him through the graft and making him get as many minutes as he can under his belt.

"It was great to see him get through that."

Hewson also had praise for defender Lewis Tidy who came into the starting line-up and coped admirably.

"We brought Lewis in and I felt like he slotted in so well. He was so composed and so disciplined and he stayed switched on for 90 minutes," he added.

"I think he had a really strong positive senior debut in the FA Cup."
