Workington Town are appealing to their loyal fans to help push them over the line and reach the League One Play-off Final this weekend.

Town travel to Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium for the second week running - but this time with a lot more at stake in the play-off semi-final.

And they are hoping that Workington fans will head to South Yorkshire in their droves to give them an added boost.

"We have had some fantastic support this year and we always have had," said Town's director of rugby Les Ashe.

"The following we have had on the road has been brilliant especially as we have gained momentum.

"Now we are hoping for a really big following to come to Doncaster on Sunday. Potentially this is as good as a final for us because if we lose that's it we are out.

"So the more people that can come down and get behind the lads, the better.

"We appreciate that it is a long journey but we hope people will get behind the club and give us the boost that might lift us over that line and get us the result we need."

Ashe admitted every player that takes to the field will have to be firing on all cylinders if they want to overcome Doncaster on their own turf.

But the prize of a place in the play-off final and possibly two bites at the promotion cherry is a big incentive.

"Not only do we need our experienced players to step up for this game but we are looking to all 17 players that are selected," added Ashe.

"We need the absolute best out of them all if they are to get past Doncaster.

"We scored 32 points against them last weekend, against a side who finished third in the league so it is not bad.

"But we also conceded and we know we have to rectify that. We are looking for a big effort in defence, like we saw against Bradford and York.

"We are very capable of scoring points so if we can challenge each other and master our defence there is no reason we can't progress to the next stage."

Town will find out tonight if they will bring home any silverware from the Betfred Championship and League 1 Awards.

Town boss Leon Pryce, in his first year in charge at Derwent Park, has been shortlisted for the League One coach of the year category.

While influential hooker Sean Penkywicz has also been named in the four-man shortlist for League One Player of the Year.

The winners will be named at the 2018 Championship and League 1 annual dinner in Manchester tonight.
