Workington Town were well represented at the Betfred Championship and League One awards in Manchester last night - but it turned out to be York's time to shine.

Ahead of this weekend's play-off semi-final with Doncaster, players, coaches and officials donned their suits for the annual bash with top gongs up for grabs.

And despite returning without any of the major awards they can be proud of a successful season that saw them reach the play-offs in fourth place.

Leon Pryce was just pipped at the post for the League One coach of the year award with the honour going to the newly promoted York City Knights boss James Ford.

York had done well, also winning League One team of the year at the Betfred Championships and League One awards in Manchester last night.

And the League One player of the year award also went to York, with Connor Robinson pipping Town's Sean Penkywicz and fellow York shortlister Ben Cockayne and Bradford's Dane Chisholm.
