West Cumbrian youngsters walked out in front of more than 60,000 rugby league fans ahead of the Super League Grand Final.

Wath Brow Hornets’ under-11s players were mascots for Warrington Wolves for the spectacle at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday.

The Wire lost 12-4 to Wigan Warriors but their young mascots enjoyed an unforgettable day out.

Wath Brow spokesman Martin Brough said: “About 1,200 teams asked the RFL to take part but we were pulled out of the hat.

“They had a tour of Old Trafford and were well looked after, then they met all the players and walked out with them.

“It was nearly a full house so the experience for them kids will have been fantastic and something they’ll never forget.”
