Workington Reds have been boosted by the news that midfielder Jordan Holt has extended his stay at the club ahead of tomorrow's FA Trophy clash with Scarborough Athletic.

The Carlisle United loanee first joined Reds last season at the end of August 2017, spending three months with the club during a remarkable period of form for the team which saw them go unbeaten for 17 games.

He returned on a half-season loan in the January transfer window and was snapped up by Reds again at the start of this campaign on an initial one-month loan which has now been extended for the second time.

The 19-year-old signed his second senior contract with the Blues ahead of this season, committing to a six-month contract.

A dynamic midfielder who gets around the pitch, Holt has been a reliable performer for Reds in more dozens of appearances for the club.

Reds will hope to continue the good news by progressing in the FA Trophy at Borough Park tomorrow (3pm kickoff).

The West Cumbrians enjoyed a good run to reach the last 16 of the trophy last season, beating Witton Albion 4-0, Chasetown 3-1, Glossop North End 5-1 in a replay, National League side Hartlepool United 1-0 and Weston-super-Mare 2-1 in another replay before succumbing to a 7-1 replay defeat at Bromley.

A similar run could be key to building confidence in the side and helping them turn their form in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League around, although Scarborough will be tough opponents in this clash, having lost just three in 20 games in all competitions so far this season.
