Millions of holidaymakers flying with Jet2 have been reassured they will not lose their free hand luggage allowance despite new Europe-wide cabin baggage rules being introduced.
The airline has confirmed customers will continue to receive 10kg of cabin baggage free of charge, along with one personal item, even as the European Commission prepares to introduce new rules aimed at making airline fares and baggage policies easier to compare.
The measures, due to come into force in 2027, are designed to make it clearer for passengers exactly what is included in the price of a flight, after years of confusion over hand luggage charges across the airline industry.
For Jet2 customers, however, the airline says nothing will change.
Unlike some budget airlines that charge passengers extra to bring a larger cabin bag onboard, Jet2 already includes a 10kg hand luggage allowance as standard on every booking.
The airline said the existing policy means customers can continue to book knowing exactly what is included, without unexpected baggage fees being added later.

Jet2 says customers already get what's being introduced elsewhere
According to the airline, 80% of customers say the inclusion of free 10kg hand luggage is one of the main reasons they choose to fly with Jet2.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, said: "For Jet2 customers, these new rules change nothing because we have always believed in doing the right thing by customers when it comes to hand luggage.
He added: "We welcome any move that helps customers better understand what is included in the price of their flight and make informed decisions when comparing airlines. It is another example of why customers continue to choose Jet2 in record numbers – because they know exactly what they're getting when they book."
The update comes as European regulators look to standardise the way airlines present fares and optional extras, helping passengers compare the true cost of flights before booking.
Jet2 says its customers can continue to travel with the same baggage allowance they receive today, despite the wider changes planned across Europe.
