Zoe Ball recently spoke about her time on Strictly Come Dancing with Alex Jones on a podcast, including one “horrendous” dance.
Both Zoe and Alex had appeared on the BBC show in different series but still had many memories to share with each other.
Alex appeared on the latest episode of Zoe’s podcast, Dig It, which she usually hosts with Jo Whiley, to talk about “the messy, everyday reality of trying to live well.”
In the episode, Zoe apologised to Alex for bringing up a “horrendous” memory from the show.
Zoe Ball’s time on Strictly Come Dancing
Zoe had made it to the final of the dancing contest with her professional partner Ian Waite in 2005.
Alex ended up coming fifth in the 2011 series with her partner James Jordan.
The pair shared a similar feeling when talking about one dance in particular.
Zoe had been speaking about the most recent records she had bought, including a copy of Antônio Carlos Jobim's Terra Brasilis, and said: “He did all that kind of music which is Brazilian, Samba, kind of.
"Don't you remember the Samba on Strictly back in the day?”
Alex was visibly embarrassed and responded with: “Oh don't, the Samba, it was the most horrendous one minute 30 of my life that was.”
Zoe apologised to Alex for reminding her of the memory before quickly moving on to talk about recommendations for books and films.
After starring on the show, Zoe went on to host the weekday spin-off show, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, from 2011 to 2020, before it was taken over by Janette Manrara alongside Rylan Clark.
After it was announced Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman would be leaving the show, Zoe had auditioned to become one of the new presenters of Strictly Come Dancing.
In a previous episode of the podcast, Zoe said: “I didn't get it, but it's okay.
"I have worked through the seven stages of grief and rejection over the last couple of days.
"I tell you what, if who I think has got it, we're in safe hands and our new hosts are going to be fabulous.”
It was later confirmed that Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe, and Josh Widdicombe would be taking over the presenting role.
