In hot weather, there is nothing better than waking up and making an ice-cold coffee to start your day off.

For the summer, Nespresso has released two new limited edition coffee pods that are perfect for the hotter weather.

Nespresso has released a Yuzu Vanilla flavour and a Coconut Vanilla flavour that should be made over ice to create a cooling drink.

I decided to try out the new coffees to see if they are worth ditching your usual branded coffee for and saving a few pounds each day.

Are the new summer Nespresso pods worth buying?

Yuzu Vanilla taste test

I tested out the Yuzu Vanilla flavour first, which was made by simply placing a cup of ice under my coffee machine and popping in the pod.

I made an Americano by topping up the double espresso with some cold water, but you could also try it out with a dash of milk to make a latte.

On the coffee pod, Nespresso says: "The vibrant flavours of Japanese yuzu and sweet vanilla turn Nespresso’s light-roast blend of Arabicas into a refreshing iced coffee experience, available for both Original and Vertuo machines.

"Best enjoyed as Nespresso’s Yuzu Vanilla Double Espresso Tonic, a crisp, citrus-bright serve made for sun-drenched, poolside moments."

Unlike your usual bitter and heavy Americanos, the Nespresso one had a lovely light vanilla flavour that wasn’t too sweet.

Yuzu is known for its citrusy flavour, which I could definitely taste after a couple of sips, and it surprisingly worked well with the sweet vanilla to make it taste a little bit more luxurious compared to your normal pre-work coffee.

Each Yuzu Vanilla Nespresso pod costs 77p, which would save you around £2.98 if you usually go to Starbucks and pay £3.75 for an iced Americano.

Coconut Vanilla taste test

I was a little apprehensive about trying the Coconut Vanilla Nespresso pod, as I’m not a huge fan of coconut-flavoured products.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the more I drank of the coffee, the more I enjoyed it.

On the coconut flavour, Nespresso says: "The smooth caramelly notes of Latin American coffees meet the sweet coconut vanilla flavour in a refreshing happy treat.

"Discover it as a Matcha Coconut Vanilla Iced Coffee, a smooth, tropical creation with a fresh, modern twist.

"Available in Original and Vertuo pods."

The Coconut Vanilla coffee is much bigger than the other flavour, so I only needed to add a splash of soy milk to top it up and create an iced latte.

The coconut flavour really stands out, and I could smell it as the coffee was brewing so if you are a big coconut fan, this one might be for you.

The coffee was incredibly smooth and so easy to drink that it was gone within a few minutes.

If you love the Starbucks Iced Toasted Coconut Latte, at only 55p per capsule, this Nespresso flavour could be the ideal dupe.

The two limited edition pods can be bought from the Nespresso website or from your nearest Nespresso Boutiques.

While you are browsing some new coffee pods, you might also want to check out the summer accessories including the ice cube tray to help make the perfect iced coffee at home and the Nespresso Travel Tumbler that is made for iced drinks on the go.

I was impressed with the strong flavours of the coffee and how easy it was to make a Starbucks-styled iced coffee at home.

Rather than heading to a big-name brand, I will be staying at home and saving some money thanks to my Nespresso machine.
